I am 47 years old today. I almost did not see this day, so I am very grateful to be sitting in my yard having coffee while Toby has his breakfast.
For much of my adult life, I have not really paid much attention to my health, and it almost cost me everything. Please see a doctor regularly, and take care of your health, Opponauts. Every one of you is wonderful and need to be on this planet as well long as possible.
I got the best birthday present of all - I survived a heart attack. I am still here.

Don’t beat yourself up over this. I, too, have always cared more for others than myself. I go to see a doctor at least twice a year, but I do have a hard time taking care of myself because it’s part of my natural personality traits.

are you on oxygen? My dad had open-heart surgery a couple of years ago, aortic valve replacement due to lifelong T1D and a bypass (just like your mechanic, you don’t want to hear your surgeon say “and while we’re in there”) and the worst thing he said about being sent home was being chained to an oxygen concentrator for weeks. though the post-surgery sedation did at least end up being the final piece to him kicking cigarettes, finally.
